47 Internal Investigations Underway: Police on Law Enforcement Actions

Since April 2022, during the opposition protests, the police have received information regarding the actions of law enforcement officials, prompting a total of 47 internal investigations and 5 internal reviews within the Armenian Police.

This was reported by the Police of Armenia. Out of the ongoing internal investigations, 1 has been left without consequences, 3 have been suspended, while the remaining 43 are currently in progress. The incidents that initiated these internal investigations have been resolved in accordance with Articles 180-181 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia.

In several instances, criminal cases have been initiated, and pre-trial investigations are currently underway. Some of the cases that prompted the internal investigations involve multiple incidents.

It is also noteworthy that, in addition to this, damage has been inflicted on the police in 13 investigated cases (3 involving police vehicles and 1 personal vehicle, and 6 involving serious injuries and 3 instances of violence).
