Deputy Police Chief on Protests in Yerevan

The Deputy Police Chief of Armenia, Ara Fidanyan, has denied statements made by opposition representatives claiming that Yerevan has come to a standstill due to the protests. Fidanyan made this statement during a session of the National Assembly's Committee on Defense and Security.

“Naturally, neither Yerevan nor any state institution is paralyzed. The police are clearly carrying out their duties, and I must say in their favor that so far, the actions of law enforcement have mostly been within the framework of the law,” said Fidanyan.

According to him, the acts of civil disobedience have been ongoing for about 20 days, but the police have not yet resorted to special measures.
