Scholz Not Offended by Ukrainian Ambassador's Insult

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in an interview with the t-online portal, refused to comment on the statement directed at him by Ukraine's Ambassador Andriy Melnyk. He stated that he would leave the assessment of these words to the journalists and changed the topic.

“One shouldn't put so much weight on every word. It is important to focus on the main issue—we want to help Ukraine defend itself. Together with our allies, we want Russia to stop the fire and withdraw its troops from the territory. That is why we have imposed extensive sanctions,” he emphasized.

Earlier, Scholz had indicated that he would not visit Kyiv in the near future after the Ukrainian authorities' refusal to welcome President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. In response, Ambassador Andriy Melnyk told the DPA news agency that “playing the offended liverwurst doesn't seem very modern.” He then refused to apologize for his remarks.
