Protests and Civil Disobedience Actions to Resume with New Momentum Starting Monday, Says Saghatelyan
Political leader Ishkhan Saghatelyan writes on his Facebook page: Starting Monday, protests and civil disobedience actions will resume with new momentum. I will speak in detail about this at our rally on May 15 at 18:00.
Before that, here are the main points from today’s press conference:
- The "Resistance" movement has suspended the process of lowering the bar for the Armenian side regarding the issues concerning Artsakh.
- The "Resistance" movement has created a real political crisis, and it is becoming evident to our international partners that there are legitimacy issues regarding Nikol Pashinyan.
- The "Resistance" movement has proven that the Armenian people will not accept any imposed concessions, and Nikol Pashinyan does not have the mandate to lead the country into further concessions.
- The "Resistance" movement has made it clear that there is a formulated public demand to remove this government.
- The "Resistance" movement is unique in its scope and layers and is essentially a second movement for Nagorno-Karabakh.
- The policy of the current government is very clear: to integrate Artsakh into Azerbaijan with broad guarantees of security and human rights. This solution will lead to the depopulation and loss of Artsakh.
- The arrangement that Pashinyan is trying to achieve with Azerbaijan is not a peace agreement. It is a contract of dispossession and loss of the Armenian statehood, therefore it is unacceptable for us.
- Many are trying to divide the movement, but the "Resistance" movement is multi-party; everyone has united around the idea of Artsakh.
- We need to create the best collective of individuals willing to assume collective responsibility for bringing the country out of this situation.
- If necessary, we will return to parliament, but exclusively with our agenda.
- I urge the KP members, who hide behind the police and speak out against the opposition, to be restrained; they should look at their past, their present, and sometimes think about their future.
- To remove the government, it is necessary to create a complete dual power in the country, ensuring that the state governance system can no longer serve one person.
- We need to further amplify the scale of the movement. For this, everyone who supports us from their balconies, who thinks like us, should come out to the streets.
- Next week, we will have some tactical changes.
- We acknowledge that we have made mistakes over the past 30 years and apologize for them, but we have never betrayed our people.
- Russia remains our main strategic ally. We also value stable relations with Iran and the West, but this should not come at the expense of one another.
