Luxury Cars Imported to Ukraine Under the Guise of Aid
The first deputy head of the Ukrainian Customs Service, Alexander Shchutskiy, announced today that luxury class cars are being massively imported into Ukraine under the pretext of aiding Ukrainian forces. This information was reported by RIA Novosti.
Since the start of the special military operation by Russia, Ukrainian authorities have canceled import duties on cars to quickly fill the shortage in the armed forces. “In essence, this is turning into a pandemic. I can say that since the adoption of the law on zero tariffs, about 80,000 vehicles for personal use have been imported as of yesterday,” he said on the air of the 'Ukraine 24' television channel.
He noted that 30% of the imported premium class cars are vehicles worth 20,000 euros or more, and there is a trend of increasing their share among the vehicles imported in recent days.
According to him, the cars being brought in by citizens are creating multi-kilometer traffic jams at the border, hindering military supplies, humanitarian aid, and fuel deliveries, which exacerbates the fuel crisis in Ukraine.
