General Samvel Karapetyan Charged

The Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Artsakh reports: "Charges have been filed in connection with the shooting incident that occurred at the 'Revival' square in Stepanakert. On May 10 of this year, a criminal case was initiated regarding the shooting incident at the 'Revival' square in Stepanakert, based on the decision of the investigator of the Artsakh Investigative Committee. Armenian citizen S.K. has been charged under Part 4 of Article 269 and Part 1 of Article 245 of the Artsakh Criminal Code.

Considering that the accused provided testimonies consistent with the factual data clarified in the case regarding the circumstances of the incident, that victims and witnesses were interrogated, and that urgent investigative actions were carried out in the case (thus minimizing the influence on participants in the criminal proceedings), as well as in accordance with the remaining circumstances subject to examination under Article 146 of the Artsakh Criminal Procedure Code when selecting a measure of restraint, the preliminary investigation body concluded that the proper conduct of the accused can be ensured by selecting a measure of restraint not related to detention. Therefore, the investigator made the decision to select a signature not to leave as a measure of restraint for the accused.

During the preliminary investigation of the criminal case, searches, confiscations, and interrogations have been conducted, and a number of examinations have been appointed. The preliminary investigation continues, and additional information will be provided regarding its course and results. The prosecutor's oversight of the legality of the pre-trial criminal proceedings is carried out by the Department of Human and General Crimes of the Artsakh Prosecutor General's Office."

It should be noted that S.K., involved in the criminal case, is General Samvel Karapetyan (Oganovski).
