In Martakert, 28 Children Were Lost, I Am the Only Parent Here
This is not a political struggle; we are here for our children. This was stated today by the parent of a fallen soldier during a protest in front of the Prosecutor General's Office:
“There is no Serzh Sargsyan here, no Robert Kocharyan, no Artur Vanetsyan. I am here for my Narek and for 5000 Nareks, let them come here. Anyone who wants can go to the Republic Square; no one is saying they shouldn’t go, but they should come here. In Martakert, 28 children were lost, and I am the only one here among those parents; how did that happen, that they managed to bring in the coffee machine and escape, but couldn’t save the children?” said the father of the deceased soldier Narek.
When asked about the circumstances of his son's death, the parent mentioned that they had woken up early to go to the cafeteria when the war started, and they ran to the basement, but the basement door was closed. They ran back and were hit by a drone.
When asked if he knew the parents of the 27 other victims, the protesting parent replied, “Of course, I have connections with them; I visit the graves of their sons. My son is not in Yerablur; he is in the village, but many are in Yerablur. Their parents also live in Yerevan. I come from the region to reach here for my child, yet they can't even come with two feet? This is not a political struggle; don't go to the Republic Square, come set up tents in front of the Prosecutor’s Office, and let’s stay here; no one can touch us, that’s all I want to say.”
It should be noted that the parents are demanding that the Prosecutor’s Office initiate a criminal prosecution against Nikol Pashinyan and hold him criminally accountable. The Prosecutor General's Office has forwarded the complaint presented by the parents to the Anti-Corruption Committee, whose investigator had refused to accept the parents of the fallen soldiers yesterday.
