Erdogan on French Presidential Elections

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan believes that the defeat of the "extremists" in the French elections was a victory for the entire world. He made these remarks to reporters while returning from Saudi Arabia.

"The outcome of the French elections, with the defeat of extremists, is a victory for our entire world. On the other hand, it turned out that Macron's opponents do not accurately analyze the sociological structure of France. In other words, their very vivid and demonstrative hostility towards Islam, especially their extreme attitude towards the hijab and Muslims, naturally pushed Macron into the forefront in the second round," Erdogan stated.

It is noteworthy that the second round of the presidential elections in France took place on April 24, where incumbent President Emmanuel Macron won with 58.54 percent against Marine Le Pen, the leader of the National Rally party, who garnered 41.46 percent.
