«Western Partners Told Me, You've Lost»: Aliyev Advises Ukraine
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, advised Ukraine not to reconcile with the occupation of its lands during the "South Caucasus Development and Cooperation" international conference.
“The most important thing for Ukraine is not to reconcile with the occupation of its lands. My Western partners told me, ‘You’ve lost, you must accept the occupation of lands, you must revise your attitude towards territorial integrity.’ But I have always rejected this. Ukrainians should not accept the violation of territorial integrity. The important thing is the victorious spirit of the nation. Now we are proud of what we have done. The important thing is the victorious spirit of the nation. We support Ukraine's territorial integrity, and we have excellent relations with both Russia and Ukraine. The principles of territorial integrity cannot be violated. By the way, we support the territorial integrity of both Moldova and Georgia.”
It is noteworthy that while Aliyev makes such high-sounding statements, it is Azerbaijan that has occupied Armenian settlements, including the fortress city of Shushi and Hadrut.
