US Aims to Prevent Resumption of Conflict Between Baku and Yerevan: Blinken

The U.S. administration is engaging in negotiations with both Azerbaijan and Armenia to prevent actions that could lead to a resumption of conflict. This was stated on Thursday by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

During a hearing at the House Foreign Affairs Committee, he was asked to comment on the situation surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh.

"This is something I am actively involved in, particularly in light of the current situation in Ukraine. I have spoken many times with Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Aliyev to ensure, first and foremost, that no one takes any steps that could lead to a resumption of conflict, as well as to try to promote and support a long-term political settlement," said Blinken.

The Secretary also added that he is negotiating with the foreign ministers of both countries.

Additionally, Blinken noted that the U.S. budget allocates $45 million to Armenia, of which two million is designated for demining efforts.
