Investigation Launched Against Turkish MP for Remarks on Armenian Genocide
The Ankara public prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation against Sezgin Tanrıkulu, a Turkish opposition MP from the Republican People's Party (CHP), for his comments regarding the Armenian Genocide.
According to reports by the Turkish media outlet Hurriyet, the investigation was prompted by a social media post made by Tanrıkulu. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office of Ankara has begun proceedings against him based on Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK), citing specific evidence that he has 'denigrated the reputation of the Republic of Turkey.'
