I Apologize for Ever Considering You a Human: Opposition Debate Continues

Arsen Babayan, a member of the Homeland party council, has shared a video on his Twitter page with the caption: "Yesterday, around one hundred thousand people participated in the pan-Armenian torch march, which had a long route and took significant time. Throughout this entire period, hundreds of thousands of people did not violate any rules and achieved their goal with high organization. In the video, you can see a member of a group performing special assignments from the government, who has no regard for anyone or anything. They are in power now and assume the right to trample upon the rules of public behavior. This is our difference: we are respectful and protective of the rules, while you are the violators. It is symbolic that this very member of the group was passionately trying to belittle the pan-Armenian march on Facebook yesterday. But I am glad because it is evident that the governmental clique already realizes how painful the next 'march' will be for them," Babayan wrote.

Later, members of the Bright Armenia party responded to Babayan on their Facebook pages. Former MP Gevorg Gorgisyan responded to Babayan's post, stating: "When all moral boundaries are forgotten, that is already the beginning of destruction. If a person knows that I am laying flowers at my uncle's grave with my family and tries to utilize that for political dividends, then tell me, what can be said in such a case?" Gorgisyan wrote.

The exchange of accusations did not stop there. Arsen Babayan also responded in turn to the aforementioned post. "Gevorg, you were a completely different person before you came to power. Do you remember how much we talked? Do you remember how much I advised you that you would ruin yourself in that group? But honestly, I did not expect you would also become a bearer of that quality. That quality is of lies, deception, and unpatriotism. It is that quality that receives positions from those who have insulted him the most and who have received the same in return. It is that quality that looks people in the eye and shamelessly lies that he never said 'capitulation'... It is that quality that has no regard for their native community and is ready to do the most vile assignments for a cheap position. Gevorg, now you, who have agreed to the final destruction of our great homeland and even call your friends desecrators for that, who are you now, Gevorg? You, who has agreed to the final destruction of our great homeland, and now you, who have called an entire nation that fights against the Turk and Turkification, against the new genocide, desecrators for the sake of your political gain? Who are you now, Gevorg, if not an ordinary special assignment performer? Now, when you are so loudly declaring your visits to a hero's grave to protect your political career, who are you now, Gevorg? I will show you how to approach the grave with respect later," Babayan wrote.

Besides this post, Babayan published a photo under Gevorg Gorgisyan's post and noted: "I have always paid my respects to a hero's grave this way. I would never want to post this picture, but I am compelled to, as a hero's relative spoke of the grave to satisfy his political ambitions." In response to this, Gevorg Gorgisyan noted: "I apologize for ever greeting you and considering you a human. I truly regret it."
