The OSCE Minsk Group Will Retire: Aliyev's Statement from Occupied Shushi
I regret that the authorities in Armenia still talk about the OSCE Minsk Group. This was stated by the authoritarian ruler of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, in the occupied Shushi.
“Regarding the mediators, I want to note that, unfortunately, senior officials in Armenia are still speaking about the Minsk Group. I think it is meaningless and pointless. The Minsk Group has been practically paralyzed since 2019. If we look at the history of this group's proposals, we will once again see that it was not created to resolve this problem (the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict). It was created to perpetuate the occupation of Azerbaijani territories. I am often asked what will happen to the OSCE Minsk Group. I have said that the OSCE Minsk Group will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2022 and then will retire,” said Aliyev at a congress of world Azerbaijanis held in Shushi.
“I think this is useless and does not matter. The Minsk Group has been practically paralyzed since 2019,” he added.
Aliyev also mentioned that when the Armenian authorities began making absurd statements in 2019, that marked the end of negotiations.
