Kazakhstan Expresses Discontent Over Grain Export Ban to EAEU Countries
Kazakhstan has expressed its dissatisfaction with the ban on grain exports to EAEU countries imposed by the Russian Federation from March 15 to June 30 of this year. This stance was conveyed during a meeting at the EAEU on Friday, as reported by a source in the grain market to Interfax.
According to the source, the Kazakh side believes that the export restriction does not align with the agreement on the Eurasian Economic Union signed in May 2014. Furthermore, it raises concerns about the discriminatory nature of this measure, as grain supplies from Belarus, a member of the Union State, have not been affected by the ban.
Additionally, the ban does not apply to grain exported outside the EAEU under a quota system. The source did not disclose the outcomes of this discussion, and Interfax has sent a relevant inquiry to the EAEU.
Meanwhile, experts in the grain market believe that Kazakhstan has been voicing its dissatisfaction with Russia's decision for an extended period.
