What Will Happen to the Aircraft Transferred from Eastern Europe to Ukraine: A Military Expert Comments

“Ukraine may receive additional MiG-29 aircraft from Eastern European countries. Our military will target these aircraft during their first flight,” military expert Konstantin Sivkov told the VZGLYAD newspaper.

Earlier, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby announced that Ukraine had received additional aircraft as part of military assistance, but not from the United States.

“Most likely, Ukraine has received MiG-29 fighters transferred by former Warsaw Pact countries. This could include Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and others. However, their versions of the MiG-29 are inferior in characteristics to those we are using in Ukraine. Moreover, there were only about ten to twelve aircraft involved. In wartime conditions, these are negligible numbers. The supply of such a small quantity of fighters will not significantly impact the course of combat operations. Hundreds of aircraft are needed to drastically change the situation in the air. At the same time, Ukraine practically lacks base airports. If the Ukrainian Armed Forces start using airports in other countries, for example, in Poland, it means Poland will be at war with Russia, with all the consequences that entails,” Sivkov stated.
