The ‘Armenia’ Faction Issues a Statement
The ‘Armenia’ faction has issued a statement regarding the authorities' obstruction of parliamentary hearings on Armenia-Turkey relations.
The statement reads:
“Dear compatriots, the current political power, once again violating the Constitution and laws, is refusing to allocate the National Assembly hall and ensure live broadcasting for the hearings initiated by the ‘Armenia’ faction before April 24, providing baseless technical justifications.
The parliamentary hearings dedicated to the draft declaration on the normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations were scheduled to take place on April 21. The purpose of the hearings was to present to the wider public the ‘red lines’ that should guide discussions on the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey.
The current process of normalizing Armenia-Turkey relations initiated by the authorities, the lack of awareness of the resulting threats, and their demonstrated illegal behavior indicate that they are either directly or indirectly serving the interests of the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem. We are determined and consistent in pursuing this issue, which lies at the heart of the Armenian people's existence. The conduct of parliamentary hearings remains on our agenda and will take place in the near future, about which we will provide additional information.”
