6-Year-Old Girl's Heart Stops: Suspected Poisoning

A 6-year-old girl has been transferred to the Austrian hospital for mothers and children in Gyumri. This was reported by the Armenpress agency. The director of the hospital, Hovhannes Vardzelyan, stated in an interview with Armenpress that resuscitation measures were taken immediately upon the child's arrival.

“Everything possible was done. Thanks to the considerable efforts of the doctors, the child's heart began to beat again. She was in extremely critical condition. An artificial respiration machine was connected, and we prepared for air evacuation, doing everything we can. Unfortunately, after 3-4 hours, cardiac arrest was registered. There is a preliminary assumption that the cause was carbon monoxide poisoning. There was only a 1% chance of saving the child's life, but tragically, her heart stopped,” the director reported.

According to preliminary information, the mother felt unwell while bathing the child and stepped out for a moment. Some time later, the grandfather entered the bathroom and noticed everything seemed normal with the girl. It was then that the father went into the bathroom and discovered the child unconscious, as stated in the report.

In connection with the incident, materials are being prepared at the Shirak regional investigation department. By the investigator's decision, a number of examinations have been appointed, including forensic examination of the body.
