We Don't: Police Urge Not to Pay 'Fines'
The Deputy Head of the Public Relations and Information Department of the Armenian Police, Edgar Janoyan, wrote on his Facebook page:
“ATTENTION
The information is circulating on the internet that numerous citizens have started to receive messages in their mobile phones or personal computers' internet browsers, claiming that their devices have been blocked by the Armenian Police due to multiple visits to websites containing pornographic materials, and they have been fined a certain amount. The same message presents bank account details for paying the fines, referencing Article 242 of the Armenian Criminal Code.
It should be noted that Article 242 of the Armenian Criminal Code pertains to violations of road traffic and transport operation rules. We clarify that the messages in question have no relation to the Armenian Police, and the suspicious website accessed by the user may contain software designed to display such messages, resulting in the notification appearing on the mobile phone or computer.
The Armenian Police urge not to pay the demanded amount and to clear accumulated files from the browsing history (/cache/) and browser extensions (/extension/) to remove the internet access block, or to consult a computer specialist. Citizens who have been victims of fraud can report to the police.”
