Armed Citizen Opens Fire in Stepanakert Police Station, Casualty Reported

An armed citizen entered the traffic police operational management center of the Artsakh Police on the second floor in Stepanakert and opened targeted fire with a submachine gun at the personnel on duty, resulting in a fatality. This information has been confirmed by the Artsakh Police.

On April 16, at approximately 22:25, 54-year-old Serge Shakaryan, a resident of the Martuni region's Chartar city, illegally entered the Artsakh Police operational management center located on M. Mashtots Avenue in Stepanakert and opened targeted fire with an AK-74-type submachine gun at the personnel on duty.

Senior Police Inspector J.E. sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and died on the spot. Following this, Serge Shakaryan pursued Junior Inspector A.K., who was on duty for the same purpose, but A.K. managed to escape.

Shortly after, Shakaryan was apprehended by the police. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and Serge Shakaryan has been arrested. Urgent investigative actions have been taken, and a preliminary investigation is underway.
