HAEC's Unit 2 Will Be Out of Operation for Over Two Months
On April 16, at 00:30, the Unit 2 of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (HAEC) was shut down for the annual planned preventive maintenance, which will last for 73 days. This information was provided by the Armenian Atomic Electric Station.
During the preventive maintenance of 2022, the following major works are scheduled:
- Medium maintenance of the reactor with partial reloading of the active zone,
- Renovation of main circulation pumps No. 4 and 5,
- Current maintenance of main circulation pumps No. 1 and 6,
- Renovation of steam generators No. 4 and 5,
- Medium maintenance of turbo generators.
Ongoing works will continue to modernize emergency cooling, reliable supply, and sprinkler systems in the active zone, as well as auxiliary systems at the turbine location.
In addition to the main production staff of HAEC, specialists from the Russian Federation, Croatia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and other countries with extensive experience in the maintenance of nuclear plant systems and equipment are involved in the work. Experts from the Nuclear Safety Regulation Committee of the Republic of Armenia also play a distinctive role in the process.
The commissioning of Unit 2 of HAEC is scheduled for June 28 of this year.
