What Armenia Proposed to Turkey: Details from the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson
The spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Vahan Hunanian, responded to questions from "Armenpress."
Question: Where and when is the next meeting of the special representatives of Armenia and Turkey expected to take place?
Answer: There is a preliminary understanding between the parties that the next meeting could be held in Vienna. As soon as the date and location of the meeting are finalized, the public will be duly informed.
Question: Turkey's Foreign Minister Cavusoglu mentioned the need for bold steps while discussing the normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations. How do you comment on this?
Answer: The Armenian side fully agrees with the necessity of taking bold steps. We have repeatedly shown our willingness to move forward, including participation in the Antalya diplomatic forum by the Foreign Minister and the lifting of the economic embargo. The restoration of air travel between Armenia and Turkey was also an important bilateral step. We are confident that the only way to move forward involves continuous concrete actions. For instance, we have proposed to the Turkish side to open the land border in the first phase for individuals carrying diplomatic passports, but the Turkish side is hesitating. We believe this would be a small, yet substantial and logical step. We hope it will be possible to achieve a result on this issue.
