VIDEO: Consequences of Strong Winds in Armenia
On April 12, between 10:26 AM and 11:50 AM, the National Crisis Management and regional crisis management centers received reports that due to strong winds, roofs, structural elements, vehicles, trees, and advertising panels were damaged in various regions of Armenia and different administrative districts of Yerevan. Specifically, incidents were reported in the Nor-Nork, Nork-Marash, Kentron, and Shengavit districts of Yerevan, as well as in the village of Narek in Ararat Province, the city of Vayk in Vayots Dzor Province, and in Abovyan city and the villages of Getamej, Mayakovski, Kanakeravan, and Nor Geghi in Kotayk Province.
Emergency Ministry firefighting and rescue teams from the Yerevan city and regional rescue departments were dispatched to the scenes.
At 11:32 AM, the National Crisis Management Center received a report about a tree that had fallen on vehicles due to strong winds near 50/8 Ashtarak Highway, necessitating the assistance of rescuers. A firefighting and rescue team was sent from the Yerevan rescue department. It was confirmed that a tree had fallen on the fence of the “Gracia International Rehabilitation Center” LLC (approximately 4 square meters were damaged) and on parked vehicles, a “Mercedes Benz E-200” (driver: H.B.) and a “Nissan Teana” (driver: A.M.), which were also damaged. The rescuers removed the tree from the area.
At 11:34 AM, the Ararat Provincial Crisis Management Center received information that due to strong winds, the roof of a cold storage unit in the yard of one of the houses in the village of Narek had fallen onto an electric pole and a gas pipe, requiring the help of rescuers. A firefighting and rescue team was dispatched from the regional rescue department. It was found that iron structural elements and metal sheeting from the roof (approximately 160 square meters) had fallen on the electric pole and gas pipe due to the strong winds. The rescuers dismantled the fallen structural elements from the electric pole and gas pipe.
At 11:30 AM, the Kotayk Provincial Crisis Management Center received a report that a part of the roof of the “Getamej” poultry factory in Getamej village had weakened and fallen due to strong winds, requiring the assistance of rescuers. Two firefighting and rescue teams were dispatched from the regional rescue department. It was confirmed that approximately 100 square meters of the poultry factory roof had been damaged due to the strong winds. The rescuers dismantled the wooden structural elements and metal sheeting of the roof (approximately 100 square meters).
