Paint Splashed on Russian Embassy in Bulgaria; One Activist is Armenian

Two individuals splashed red paint on the Russian embassy in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Law enforcement apprehended them, reports the Sofia Globe.

According to reports, the two men—former journalist Armen Babikyan and lawyer Nikolay Khadjigenov, both of whom were previously parliament members—splashed paint on the embassy's sign. They shared footage of the act on social media. They stated that the action was aimed at drawing attention from Russian officials to the events in Ukraine.

Earlier, Bulgaria had declared ten Russian diplomats as “persona non grata.” Russia has promised to respond to the expulsion of its diplomats.
