Fifth Package of Sanctions Against Russia Published: What Restrictions Have Been Imposed
The European Union has approved the fifth package of economic and individual sanctions against Russia due to the ongoing military operations in Ukraine. This was announced on Friday by the EU Council, according to TASS.
The fifth package includes:
“The Council today decided to establish the fifth package of economic and individual sanctions against Russia,” the statement said.
The EU has banned the entry of Russian ships into its ports and has agreed on an embargo on Russian coal supplies, which will come into effect at the end of summer. It has also restricted transportation across its territory for Russian and Belarusian road transport operators, excluding medical and food products, import of quantum computers, semiconductors, aviation fuel, as well as wood products, cement, fertilizers, seafood, and alcohol.
Furthermore, transactions are fully prohibited, and the assets of “four key Russian banks” have been frozen, the names of which have not yet been published.
In addition, the EU has expanded the ban on the sale of tickets and securities to legal entities in Russia and Belarus, including “officials, businessmen, and their families,” with names to be published later.
