Census to Be Held in Armenia

Census to Be Held in Armenia

A census will be conducted in Armenia from October 13 to 22. This information is provided by the Government’s official website.

Under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan, a meeting of the national commission for the preparation and implementation of the census was held today.

The preparatory work for the census has been organized based on the guidelines and procedures for conducting censuses in 2020 set by the UN and the UN Economic Commission for Europe, which include collecting essential indicators from the state population register and data specified by the census program through a 25% sample survey.

Within a five-day timeframe, the draft census program will be submitted for approval to the Government of Armenia, after which the census questionnaire will be finalized by the decision of the State Statistical Committee.

It is worth noting that the census was originally scheduled for last year but was postponed due to the coronavirus situation. The budget allocated 936.6 million drams for this purpose, which was transferred to the reserve fund of the Government of Armenia.
