Inmate Dies After Being Transferred to Hospital with Diagnosis of 'Exogenous Intoxication, Closed Cranial Brain Injury'
On April 4, a report was received by the Mashtots Police Department from the Armenia Medical Center stating that an inmate, diagnosed with 'exogenous intoxication and closed cranial brain injury,' had died after being transferred from the 'Nubarashen' Penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia for medical assistance.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamsyan, a police group from the Mashtots Police Department, led by senior investigator Vardanyan, was dispatched to the hospital.
The police established that the deceased was 57-year-old Gevorg A., who had been arrested under the characteristics of Article 266, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (illegal manufacture, processing, acquisition, storage, transportation, delivery, or illegal sale of drugs and psychoactive substances).
According to G. Shamsyan's information, the deceased had been transferred to the Armenia Medical Center on March 23.
