Former Car Serviced for Alen Simonian Put Up for Sale: Details

The State Property Management Committee has put up for sale the former car that served National Assembly President Alen Simonian. In November, the government decided to allocate about $200,000 for the purchase of a new service car for Simonian, a BMW 750 LI Xdrive. As a result, the committee decided to sell the old vehicle.

This decision by the government sparked criticism and protests; despite this, the new BMW was purchased from the Armenian representative of the brand, "Euromotors." Representatives of the government claimed that Simonian's old BMW was in poor condition. In a conversation with "First News," the Assembly President said that the car was causing new problems every month and every week. "There was a case where we had to stop while on the road because the car suddenly became faulty and unfit for driving," Simonian described the issues with the old BMW.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan justified the decision to buy a new service car for the Assembly President by stating that tens of millions of drams were being spent on maintaining that car. MP Gevorg Papoyan from the "Civil Contract" party went further, declaring that the transmission of that BMW was not functioning and that the purchase of a new BMW was necessary and timely.

However, the State Property Management Committee, while describing the technical condition of the former service car of the Assembly President, indicated that both the transmission and the engine are in good working condition, and the body has no damage. The vehicle is valued at 7.1 million drams, which is the starting price for the property. It is noteworthy that the technical condition of many other cars put up for sale by the committee is evidently described as much worse. For example, a Hyundai Elantra's technical condition report states that the engine and body are subject to repair, which is also the case for another vehicle being sold, a GMC Savana. However, in the case of the former car serviced for Alen Simonian, the committee has no such remarks.
