Sexual Assault Against a Child in Stepanakert

On August 19, 2021, the Artsakh Prosecutor's Office published information regarding a sexual assault case involving a child born on February 3, 2016, committed by a resident of Stepanakert, B.J., born in 1956.

A criminal case had been initiated concerning this incident, and based on the sufficient correlation of evidence gathered during the preliminary investigation, charges were filed against B.J. on August 18, 2021, under part 3, clause 2 of Article 137 of the Artsakh Criminal Code for the alleged crime of ‘Sexual Assault of a Violent Nature.’

On March 31, 2022, this criminal case was sent to the first instance court of general jurisdiction in Artsakh for substantial examination.

The prosecution in this criminal case will be represented by the Stepanakert Prosecutor's Office.
