Lexus Driver Abuses and Assaults Police Officers

The Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee is conducting necessary measures to clarify all circumstances surrounding the violence and serious insult against police officers, in a criminal case initiated under parts 2.2 of Article 137.1 and part 1 of Article 316 of the RA Criminal Code.

The Investigative Committee reports that, according to preliminary data, an employee of the RA Police submitted a report on April 3, 2022, indicating that a Lexus vehicle was stopped at 19:50 for suspicion of hooliganism to bring it to the police station.

One of the officers approached the mentioned vehicle and identified himself, after which the driver directed offensive language towards him, displaying inappropriate behavior. Subsequently, during the time of placing the driver into the police vehicle, the driver continued to insult him and other police officers, resisted, pulled, and pushed the officers, causing bodily harm in the process.

Four police officers have been recognized as victims, and their clothing has been confiscated. Forensic examinations have been appointed.

The 43-year-old driver was arrested at 22:30 on April 3, 2022. The investigation is ongoing.
