What Is the Reason for the Renovation of the Lambda Bridge? City Hall Provides Details

Earlier, we reported that due to renovation work on the underground section of the transport hub connecting Freedom Avenue and Davit Anhaght (commonly known as Lambda), certain above-ground transport routes at the hub will be temporarily closed starting today.

Radio Aurora has received numerous calls from drivers inquiring about the ongoing renovations in the area, expressing concerns about why the renovation is taking so long and whether it wouldn't be more beneficial to repair streets in the city that are truly in disrepair.

In response, the press office of Yerevan City Hall explained that this was a rather urgent project that could not be postponed. “Water intrusion into underground areas is occurring, and this work was indeed crucial to undertake now. We will carry out the work in segments every month, to avoid potential traffic congestion. Currently, there is no serious and immediate danger, but we are preventing a possible risk in the near future. There was no alternative. It was necessary to address this issue since the water was entering underground areas, and it's impossible to waterproof those areas without closing off the upper portion first,” said officials.
