US Congress Members Urge State Department to Take Action Against Aliyev's Militaristic Actions
US Congressional co-chairs of the Armenian Issues Caucus have urged the Department of State to utilize all diplomatic tools at their disposal to stop the militaristic actions of Azerbaijan's president and to bring him back to the negotiating table.
According to Armenpress, in a statement regarding the incursion of Azerbaijani units into Nagorno-Karabakh, Congressional members Frank Pallone, Gus Bilirakis, Jackie Speier, David Valadao, and Adam Schiff emphasized: “We condemn Azerbaijan's recent actions in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Members of Congress highlighted that the movement of Azerbaijani troops into Artsakh, their use of drones, and depriving the region’s civilian population of a primary source of natural gas constitute a violation of the 2020 ceasefire and pose a threat to innocent people.”
“The United States should not look away from this clear example of dangerous behavior, and we must do everything to ensure peace and stability in the region. We call on the State Department to use all diplomatic tools at their disposal to cease the militaristic actions of President Aliyev and bring him back to the negotiating table through the peaceful process led by the OSCE Minsk Group,” the statement from the Congress members reads.
