Macron Announces Intent to Discuss Humanitarian Operation in Mariupol with Putin
French President Emmanuel Macron expects to have a new phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming days, during which he intends to discuss the details of a planned humanitarian operation to evacuate people from Mariupol, involving Greece and Turkey. He spoke to reporters on Monday during a pre-election visit to Dijon, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“Today, we are witnessing a violation of international humanitarian law by Russia, which is inviolable even in times of war. We condemn this behavior, and in the coming days, I intend to speak with President Putin. It is impossible to conduct negotiations regarding our actions without the agreement of the Ukrainian side and the mayor of Mariupol,” Macron stated.
