Germany Will Refuse to Import Russian Coal and Oil This Year, Says Scholz

Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz has announced that his country will attempt to stop importing Russian coal and oil this year, and will create technical conditions to become independent from Russian gas imports as soon as possible.

According to the РИА Новости agency, the Chancellor also noted that a sudden embargo on Russian energy supplies could negatively affect the labor market and industry, potentially leading to an economic crisis.

Scholz reminded that not only Germany but also numerous Eastern European countries depend on Russian energy resources.
