Azerbaijanis Still in Artsakh: Armenian Foreign Ministry Publishes Maps as Evidence
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia has noted with satisfaction that the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group have provided a clear assessment of the recent escalation in the Nagorno-Karabakh situation, stating that it is a result of the movement of Azerbaijani troops. This has been reported by the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has announced that it has called on the Azerbaijani side to withdraw its military units. On March 27, the Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement that the Azerbaijani side had withdrawn its units from the area of the Parukh settlement in Nagorno-Karabakh.
However, we must note that the intrusion of Azerbaijani units into Nagorno-Karabakh continues in the zone of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping force, which is illustrated in the attached maps. We expect that the Russian peacekeeping force in Nagorno-Karabakh will take specific measures to stop the intrusion of Azerbaijani units into the zone of responsibility of the peacekeepers and to withdraw the Azerbaijani armed forces.
We consider it important that a proper investigation of the actions of the peacekeeping force occurs during this entire period of Azerbaijani intrusion, and that answers to several questions be provided.
The attached maps illustrate:
- In both maps, the outline of the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping force is taken from the website of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
- The map describing the situation as of March 24, 2022, clearly shows that there are no Azerbaijani posts in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping force in Nagorno-Karabakh.
- The map depicting the situation on the morning of March 28, 2022, at 09:00, shows that Azerbaijani posts are established in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping force in Nagorno-Karabakh.
