Tehran's Nuclear Program Will Be Restricted: Josep Borrell
The head of the EU's foreign policy service, Josep Borrell, announced today that Iran and global powers are very close to an agreement on the restoration of the 2015 nuclear deal, which will limit Tehran's nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of stringent sanctions.
According to Reuters, Borrell made this statement while speaking at the International Doha Forum. Earlier, Enrique Mora, the EU coordinator for the nuclear negotiations, mentioned that he would travel to Tehran on March 26 to meet with Iran's chief negotiator.
Iran's foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, stated this week that the nuclear agreement could be reached in the short term if the U.S. takes a pragmatic approach. However, U.S. officials have been more cautious in assessing the efforts to restore the agreement.
