Mercury Thermometers No Longer for Sale, Is There a Proper Batch of Electronics at Normal Prices? - Elibegova
Azerbaijan expert Angela Elibegova posted: "In Armenia, the sale of mercury-containing devices, including mercury thermometers, will be prohibited." Two questions:
- How should we dispose of mercury thermometers at home? Is there a specific place or method designated for this?
- If their sale in pharmacies is banned, is there a sufficient batch of electronic alternatives at reasonable prices?"
It is noteworthy that the Armenian Parliament approved the bill on Mercury on Wednesday in its second and final reading. The law prohibits the import and sale of mercury-containing devices, which include products such as fluorescent lamps (already not used in Armenia for some time), barometers, manometers, and thermometers. Old thermometers will not be collected from the population, but they will no longer be sold in pharmacies. The government will confirm the timeline for the withdrawal of thermometers and other mercury devices from the market.
