Residents of Voskepar Not Given Property Certificates, Claim Houses Are on Azerbaijani Territory
Residents of Voskepar village in the Tavush region have been unable to obtain property certificates for their houses since their construction. According to the residents, the Cadastre Committee informs them that the areas where the houses were built do not lie within the territory of Armenia.
In connection with this issue, Tert.am spoke with the administrative head of Voskepar, Ishkhan Agbalyan.
“These houses were built in the 1990s, if I'm not mistaken in 1995. When the residents went to obtain property certificates, they were told back then that these houses were not on our territory, and they have not been able to privatize them since then. This problem remains unresolved even now. They are paying utility bills for that address, their sons have been drafted into the army from that address, but they do not have property certificates,” said Agbalyan.
The administrative chief noted that their residence addresses do not appear on the map. “These addresses were provided by the municipality to enable residents to receive benefits, make payments, and so on, but there are no such data on the map. God forbid, if there is a delimitation or demarcation tomorrow that results in these areas being considered Azerbaijani, these people would be deprived of their homes, and now they do not have property certificates that would at least allow the state to allocate them a house elsewhere,” Agbalyan added.
The news outlet has sent an inquiry to the Cadastre Committee to clarify on what date and based on which maps property certificates are issued in Voskepar village.
