What Problems Has Heavy Snow Caused in Armenia? Ministry of Emergency Situations Presents Statistics
From March 18 to 21, heavy snowfall across the country has created issues, particularly on the roads in the Syunik, Vayots Dzor, and Aragatsotn regions.
Today, the head of the National Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Colonel Arsen Mkrtchyan, held a press conference at the Armenian Press news agency.
According to statistics, 136 calls regarding blockages have been received over the past three days, with 520 vehicles and 1309 citizens moved to safe areas. Rescuers have deployed snowmobiles to assist drivers stranded in the Syunik region.
Incidents of landslides have been recorded in Dilijan and Stepanavan. Rescuers continue to provide around-the-clock service.
The head of the National Crisis Management Center urged drivers to travel only when absolutely necessary and to use winter tires.
