Is Armenian Chief Prosecutor Arthur Davtyan Resigning?
Hraparak.am reports: One of the most significant events in public life in recent days has been the disputes and mutual accusations between the Armenian Prosecutor's Office and the Anti-Corruption Committee, which were expressed publicly, revealing the division within the law enforcement sector as well. Then it became known that there are disagreements between the Prosecutor's Office and other agencies, particularly the Supreme Judicial Council.
Subsequently, the Chief Prosecutor announced that an investigation should be conducted to determine how the property of Hovik Abrahamyan was unblocked and sold, to which the Anti-Corruption Committee responded. Following that, the Prosecutor's Office began releasing statements detailing the work it has done, the successes it has achieved, and the amount of money it has returned to the state budget.
This behavior suggests that Chief Prosecutor Arthur Davtyan is singing the swan song, as he is likely to soon bid farewell to his post since his term of office is expiring, and he may have no hopes of a new position. The authorities are currently searching for a replacement for Chief Prosecutor Arthur Davtyan, and there is no shortage of candidates or self-nominees. However, our sources in the government assure that Nikol Pashinyan has not yet selected a new prosecutor.
It should be noted that Arthur Davtyan's term of office will expire in September 2022.
