Blizzard on Sisian-Zanger Highway: Situation on the Republic's Roads, Ministry of Emergency Situations
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed and difficult-to-pass highways across Armenia.
Closed are the roads from the "Amberd" high-altitude meteorological station in Aragatsotn province to Amberd Fortress and K'ari Lake, as well as the Berd-Jambarak, Vardenats Pass, and the roads from Jermuk to Gndevaz in Vayots Dzor province.
In Vayots Dzor province, the Saravan-Zanger and Dilijan-Novemberyan highways in Tavush province are closed only for trucks with trailers; other types of vehicles are experiencing difficulties. All roads in Syunik province, as well as the Alagyaz-Artik highway in Shirak province and the Lanjarr-Lusashogh road in Ararat province are also difficult to pass.
The Goris-Tatev and Kapan-Tatev roads in Syunik province are accessible for trucks with trailers only with the use of chains. There are patches of black ice on the roads in the Aparan and Aragats regions of Aragatsotn province.
In Gegharkunik province, there is a blizzard on the Sisian-Zanger highway in Syunik province, while snowstorms are reported in the mountainous areas of Vayots Dzor province. Snowfall is also observed in Tavush, Syunik, and Lori provinces.
About the Lars Road: According to information received from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of North Ossetia in Russia, the Stepanstminida-Lars road is closed for trucks. Approximately 350 trucks are stranded on the Russian side. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
