What is the Situation on Armenia's Roadways: Snowfall in Several Regions

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roadways in the territory of Armenia.

The roads from the "Amberd" high-altitude meteorological station in Aragatsotn Province to Amberd Fortress and the Stone Lake are closed. The Vardenyats Pass and the Berd-Chambarak roadway are closed to all types of vehicles.

In Lori Province, the Vanadzor-Alaverdi, Vanadzor-Stepanavan roads, and the Spitak bends are difficult to navigate. In Lori Province, there are patches of black ice on the roads.

Snowfall has been recorded in the regions of Lori, Syunik (except for the cities of Sisian and Meghri), in the regions of Shirak – Ashotsk and Amasia, in Aragatsotn – Aparan and Aragats, in Vayots Dzor – Jermuk, in Tavush – Dilijan, Ijevan, Noyemberyan, and in Gegharkunik – Chambarak, Martuni, as well as in Shirak Province’s city of Gyumri.

Regarding Lars, according to information from the Emergency Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the crisis management center of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed to all types of vehicles due to the risk of avalanche. There are approximately 267 cargo vehicles on the Russian side. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
