Updates: Closed and Impassable Roads in Armenia
The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that in the regions of Lori, Vayots Dzor, and Syunik (except for the cities of Sisian and Meghri), the roads leading to Ashotik and Amasia in Shirak Province, the Berd area in Tavush Province, as well as Sevan, Martuni in Gegharkunik Province, Gyumri in Shirak Province, Hrazdan in Kotayk Province, and the Tigranashen Pass in Ararat Province are currently closed or impassable due to fog.
Reports indicate that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads throughout Armenia. The roads from the "Amberd" high-altitude meteorological station in Aragatsotn Province to Amberd Fortress and the roads leading to Karih Lake are closed. The Vardenyats Pass, the Berd-Jambarak road, and the Saravan-Zanger road are closed to all types of vehicles.
In Lori Province, the Vanadzor-Alaverdi and Vanadzor-Stepanavan roads, as well as the Spitak Pass, are difficult to traverse. There are localized patches of black ice on the roads in Lori Province. In Syunik Province, the Kapan-Goris and Kapan-Kajaran roads are experiencing fog.
According to information received from the Emergency Situations Departments of Georgia and the North Ossetia Crisis Management Center in Russia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all vehicle types due to the risk of snowdrifts. There are approximately 274 heavy-duty vehicles stuck on the Russian side.
Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
