Russian Troops Prevent Ukrainian Aid from Entering, Mariupol Remains Blockaded: Zelensky

During a nighttime address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Mariupol continues to be blockaded by Russian forces. According to Zelensky, the Russian troops are preventing Ukrainian assistance from entering the city.

“Today in Melitopol, the occupiers have taken Mayor Ivan Fedorov hostage. Ukraine demands the immediate release of the mayor and guarantees the safety of all community leaders in the state,” the Ukrainian president noted.

Referring to humanitarian corridors, Zelensky mentioned that despite Russian forces disrupting the operations of most humanitarian corridors today, it has been possible to rescue 7,144 people.

Zelensky also revealed that he had discussions with U.S. President Biden, in which they discussed ways to apply pressure on Russia to end the war and establish peace.
