Ukrainian Court Places Margarita Simonyan on Absentee Arrest

The Prosecutor General of Ukraine has announced that a Ukrainian court has placed Margarita Simonyan, the editor-in-chief of "Russia Segodnya" and RT, on absentee arrest.

The corresponding decision was made by the court after the country's Prosecutor General's Office initiated criminal proceedings against the journalist. This was reported on Friday, March 11, by TASS, citing Ukraine's Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova.

"The Ukrainian court has allowed for your arrest, Margarita Semenovna, and to bring you to court for the measure of restraint," Venediktova stated.
