Artsakh Defense Army Vigilant, No Combat Alert
The situation in the village of Khamarort in the Askeran region of Artsakh is tense. A resident of Khamarort told Sputnik Armenia that since morning, the Azerbaijani side has been firing in the direction of the village.
There have been no damages to residential homes or injuries to people, but residents are frightened. Several women and children have left the village on their own, but there is no general evacuation.
Sources from the media report that the Artsakh Defense Army is vigilant, but there is no combat alert. As previously mentioned, the Azerbaijani side has been periodically engaging in provocations since last night.
On March 9, Azerbaijani armed forces actively fired on various administrative areas of the Askeran region, including Khamarort and Nakhichevanik, as well as the Martuni region's Khunshinak and Karmin Shuka communities using weapons of different calibers, including mortars. This has halted all types of agricultural activities and obstructed the free movement of residents. The Artsakh Prosecutor's Office issued this statement.
“Considering the created situation, law enforcement agencies are taking all possible measures to document the criminal actions of the Azerbaijani side and their consequences. Throughout the day, threats were again sounded from the Azerbaijani military post located near the Khamarort community, including warnings to 'leave the area' and threats of using force,” the statement reads.
