PPA Hopes to Buy Power by Distributing Money: 'Hraparak'
The newspaper 'Hraparak' reports that Garik Sargsyan, the acting head of the enlarged community of Vedi, has announced days of charity about a month before the elections. In the last week, he has signed nearly two dozen decisions almost every day regarding financial assistance for community residents. These aids range from 10,000 to 50,000 drams, and just yesterday he provided 20,000 to 35,000 drams to impoverished families in his native Nor Kyanq and the neighboring Vosketaq.
According to various estimates, in the last two weeks, around 5-6 million drams have been withdrawn from the community budget under the guise of social support. It is worth noting that Arush Arushanyan, the head of the enlarged community of Goris, also distributed money to the underprivileged before the elections, but the authorities classified it not as assistance to the poor, but as electoral bribes. Based on that, a criminal case was initiated against Arushanyan, and he has been in detention since July 2021.
Let us remember that new elections will take place in Vedi on March 27, and on December 5, Garik Sargsyan and the PPA recorded a disgraceful result, being just a few percentage points short of taking power from the opposition 'Strong Community' party. Now, the PPA hopes to buy power by distributing money as well.
