How 2.3 Million AMD Was Stolen from One of Yerevan's Famous Stores: Investigative Committee Provides Details
The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting necessary investigative and procedural actions concerning a criminal case involving a large-scale theft with preliminary agreement, during which the "Zara" store-gallery was robbed using an object resembling a weapon.
According to preliminary information, two individuals forcibly entered the restricted access area of the cashiers at the "Zara" store located in the "Dalma Garden Mall" shopping center at 3 Tsitsernakaberd Highway in Yerevan on March 6, 2022, around 10:30 AM. Under the threat of using life-threatening violence with an object resembling a pistol, they attacked an employee who was present in the office at that time, demanding her to leave the cashier's room. They subsequently stole an amount of approximately 2,392,000 AMD from a fireproof safe belonging to the company and fled the scene.
A criminal case has been initiated based on Article 175, Parts 2, Points 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
During the preliminary investigation, urgent investigative actions have been carried out, including the examination of the crime scene, seizure of video recordings from the store's security cameras, and questioning of several individuals.
The investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to ensure an objective and comprehensive examination, identify the individuals suspected of committing the crime, present them to the prosecuting body, and locate the stolen property. An order has been issued to the investigative body.
