Residents of Kiev Urged to Stay in Shelters Amid Tense Situation

An air alert has been declared in the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, as reported by Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform. Residents of Kiev have been urged to urgently move to shelters.

“The situation around Kiev is very tense today; we are taking all necessary actions for defense. It is the heart of our country, the center of culture, history, and statehood. To this day, the entrances to the capital are steadfastly protected by units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” said Mykola Zhirnov, head of the Kiev military administration.

He also reported that extensive preparatory work related to infrastructure is underway, including road barriers, checkpoints, and the mining of sites.
