Civil Contract Rejects Taguhi Tovmasyan's Bill Regarding Contracted Soldiers
The National Assembly has rejected the bill proposed by Taguhi Tovmasyan, a deputy from the "Honorary Have" faction, which aimed to provide contracted soldiers with compensation for rental housing based on a certificate from the Cadastre Committee.
Prior to the voting, Andranik Kocharyan, the chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security Issues, stated that the committee had allowed the question to be discussed in a plenary session by voting in favor, but emphasized that the bill not only fails to address the existing issues but also raises new problems. He urged the political majority to vote against the proposal.
The bill received 22 votes in favor, 62 against, and 2 abstentions.
It is noteworthy that under the current law, contracted soldiers must present a rental agreement in order to receive compensation for housing costs.
