"Nuclear War Is Not in the Minds of Russians but in Those of Western Countries": Lavrov
Nuclear war is not in the minds of Russians, but in those of Western countries. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during an interview with Russian and foreign media on Thursday, responding to a question from an American journalist.
“Everyone understands that a third world war can only be nuclear, but I draw your attention to the fact that it is Western politicians who are constantly thinking about a nuclear war, not the Russians. Therefore, I assure you that we will not allow this provocation to destabilize us, but if a real war is unleashed against us, then those who draw such plans should probably think about that, and, in my opinion, such plans do exist,” he said.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that Western countries use discussions about nuclear war to blame Russia. “This discussion is also started by French Foreign Minister Le Drian, who has called on Vladimir Putin to remember that France also possesses nuclear weapons. Zelensky has spoken about this, and NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg has stated that they would deploy nuclear weapons even closer to the Russian Federation if necessary. British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has said that she is ready for a NATO-Russia war. These are the talks that you are trying to use to accuse us,” Lavrov noted.
Recall that on the morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation for the demilitarization of Ukraine.
